Start Button Equivalent on Modular?

I'm using Syntorial to learn how to make better patches with my modular synth and I'm wondering if there is an equivalent to the start button in modular oscillators. Both of my oscillators (Pony VCO and Dixie 2) have hard sync, I tried feeding the gate from the keyboard in and it seems to work. Am I on the right track?

While I don't have experience with either of these specific modules, since hard sync starts the waveform over at the beginning of its phase, yes, it should be achieving the same result as Syntorial's Start button. If you double and detune the oscillators, do you hear a difference in the attack transient with the gate routed to hard sync?
