Mind's Ear for Syntorial

Mind's ear seems to be a core aspect of building blocks; is there something similar we should be doing with syntorial?

I always find myself just making small, sometimes random tweaks to compare to the hidden patch, but it seems like hard to have a patch "in my mind".

I don't think I'd be able to come close to the hidden patch if I wasn't able to go back and forth and make these tweaks and test out random things.

Also one question I have is how do we make the jump from being able to just copy patches vs being able to design or our own new ones that we sort of hear in our heads (though again, perhaps this is not super well founded since its hard to hear a patch in our head)?

This is just an open ended discussion, motivated by making the leap from copying patches to designing our own patches that we may have no idea how to make (for instance, things in bass music are very far out).
