I LOVE SYNTHESIS!!! Hello everyone! I go by YanderePop, and I just bought the Black Friday Syntorial+Building Blocks bundle, and I'm here to chat anything synth!
So I've mostly done subtractive and FM synthesis so far, and I've got to say--they're both amazing, but I LOVE FM SYNTHESIS!!! It's so mind-blowing, how even just moving one of the operators one semitone off from the correct ratio makes a horrid (but totally awesome) sound, and then moving that one semitone where it belongs suddenly makes the sound melodic and beautiful! I love the unpredictability of FM! I wanna make everything FM!
What's everyone's favorite type of synthesis!?
I've also dabbled a bit in Additive, and I'd love to mess with that some more.
But I don't feel like I need to learn Granular shivers
Oh but don't get me wrong, Idk what I sound like but I'm definitely still a beginner.
Anyway, nice to meet you all! I hope we all have lots of fun chatting synths!

Good question! Subtactive is always my go-to, but I find myself increasingly drawn towards FM. Being able to shape a simple sine wave into anything you want makes me feel like a true sculptor of sound. What's your FM synth of choice?

Sorry it took me so long to reply! For a while I thought my thread was going to be dead lol. Thank you so much for joining my conversation!
My favorite FM synth is Matt Tytel Helm! Its simplicity is my favorite feature. I can look at the whole synth and hold onto all of its features in my head, and invent stuff creatively based off of those features. Do you know what I mean? It's kinda like, a fancier synth like Imagine-Line Sytrus (my second choice for FM) has so, so many cool features, I can't even keep it in my head. But Helm isn't like that. I can just...grasp it. And use it. And understand it instinctively (as best as a total beginner like me can). Actually, right now, while I'm still early on, Helm is flat-out my favorite synth 😀
What about you? What is your FM synth of choice?

Actually, I just realized that I didn't know there was a response because I didn't receive an email, even though I have email notifications turned on in my account. I just double-checked which email address is connected to it, and it's the right one. It's not even showing up in junk. So I contacted customer service for help with that.

@Yandere Pop: Hit the little bell with "follow" next to it at the top left. Then you'll be following this thread and will receive notifications.
I have yet to land on a go-to FM. I dabble with Operator and Dexed more than any though.

@Joe: That's embarrassing that I didn't realize that ^^' Thank you very much for the tip!
I've heard about those two synths, they sound like really good ones! When I'm up to it I should give them a shot 😀
