Could the Opsix Be a Companion to Syntorial? Any Tips on How This Can Be Done?
Solved
I've acquired an opsix and would like to use this as a synth while I learn syntorial. I know it's an FM synth so not sure if this can be done. I'm quite a newb so any help appreciated. thanks!
Just starting this journey myself 😀
Now, I'm not a complete newb, so most of the things discussed in the linked YouTube video already make sense to me.
It might be a big stretch for somebody completely new to synthesis... which is probably what Joe is saying... but I am looking forward to the journey, and to learning my way around the opsix...
Don't get me wrong: The Opsix is a cool synth, and FM is a fascinating form of synthesis that can make some wonderful sounds. But the differences between FM and Subtractive/Wavetable are substantial enough that you'd have a tough time applying Syntorial to the Opsix.
The Korg Minilogue XD would be a much better choice. It has a lot of similar parameters to Syntorial so the translation process will be easy. And it has some additional expandability for you to grow with.
