Hi,
I've started to try Syntorial and I like it. It a structuring learning tool with a great integration of an actual synth within the lesson 😀
In the frame of the continuous improvement process, I would suggest to add some (simple) controls to the Challenge UI to overcome issues with non US computer keyboards. I focus here on keyboard octave range for now but velocity, pitch wheel, mod wheel aren't working neither
On Syntorial App, the embedded keyboard seems to target computer with US layout only. So, in my case, on a French (AZERTY) keyboard, luckily some shortcuts work like X or V but unfortunately others wouldn't ,like changing the octave range with number row, velocity, pitch wheel, mod wheel (cf https://support.audiblegenius.com/technical/does-syntorial-use-any-shortcut-keys). This is an issue for me as the default octave range is way to high (C5 ? C6 ?) and I don't always have my Midi keyboard with me when I use Syntorial.
So I have to use the trackpad/mouse clicks to play dozens notes which is a bit cumbersome in the "frenziness" of chasing subtleties between saw/pulse waveforms, 90%/100% cut-off settings... Not really a big deal I admit but still, it would be great to show a bit more love to non-US keyboard owner and my (actual) tendonitis would thank you 😀
I found a (equally cumbersome) work around : I've added a US layout in my Mac settings, switch to it, change the octave range, then switch back to French layout. But I have to do it at every Syntorial launch because the octave range setting is not saved in the config.
Another (equally cumbersome) workaround is using app like Midikeys but then you are in another fight, the Focus between apps this time.
Thanks for your help
Christophe
